From the first time I watched The Vampire Diaries, years ago, the very first episode I watched was History Repeating. My best friend had convinced me to watch it and coincidentally, it was on, during a “marathon” thing of the first 10 episodes of the first season. I got to catch the ninth, and the tenth. I didn’t have any background on the show, and I didn’t get to see any character, let alone couple, development. As I watched the show, I immediately fell in love with all the characters. But there was something about Stefan Salvatore, played by Paul Wesley, that really got me. And Nina Dobrev, who I’ve been a fan of since Degrassi, had grown so much as an actress. I watched the two of them on the screen together, and when Elena said, “Don’t walk away, Stefan!” I knew from then I was going to pull for this couple no matter what. It was just the chemistry they had together. It was undeniable. There’s such a fluidity, and a genuine feel to it. I can’t exactly describe it. But they make the show for me. They bring out the best in each other, and they have this unbeatable bond that really just shines during their scenes together. If I didn’t know better, I would’ve thought they weren’t acting at all. Nina and Paul are both very talented actors (as is everyone on the show) but when they’re put together, it’s absolutely magic, in my eyes. Then of course, the next episode, The Turning Point. It just validated every opinion that I had formed while watching History Repeating. (And the sex scene was just a bonus, heheh.) When they are together on the screen, it just feels so natural to me, and they make everything believable. I think they’re just, really good for each other. Which is why I ship Stelena, and even though it’s pretty much out of the question, I ship Dobsley. I love seeing them together, on screen or off screen. As friends or as a ship.
